The 2024 Little League World Series is over after featuring some of the best young baseball and softball players in the country.
The tournament was capped off with a showdown in the Little League Baseball World Series (LLBWS) between the Southeast and Asia-Pacific teams in which Lake Mary Little League out of Florida beat Kuei-Shan Little League out of Chinese Taipei 2-1 in extra innings. Florida pitcher Lathan Norton scored the winning run in the eighth after Chinese Taipei made an errant throw on a bunt.
The LLBWS in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, started on Aug. 14, and the United States and International finals took place on Aug. 24.
A Little League Softball World Series (LLSWS) champion was crowned on Aug. 11, as Pitt County Girls Softball Little League out of Winterville, North Carolina, took home this year's title. The tournament began Aug. 4 in Greenville, North Carolina, and had a number of games affected by inclement weather caused by a tropical storm moving up the East Coast.
The LLBWS and LLSWS showcased an extended field of 20 and 12 teams, respectively, for the third year in a row.
In this year's MLB Little League Classic, the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 3-2 in 10 innings at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport on Aug. 18.
