A bout between highly ranked strawweights Claudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz has been added to UFC 212 on June 3 in Rio de Janeiro.
UFC officials announced the 115-pound bout on Monday. ESPN.com ranks Gadelha and Kowalkiewicz the Nos. 2 and 3 strawweights in the world, respectively.
Gadelha (14-2) challenged Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the UFC title last summer. The Brazilian came up short in a five-round decision. The only two professional losses in Gadelha's career have come against Jedrzejczyk.
Fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gadelha is 3-2 overall in the UFC. She is coming off a three-round decision win over Cortney Casey in November.
Kowalkiewicz (10-1) also fought Jedrzejczyk for the title in 2016, losing at UFC 205 on Nov. 12 in New York. Kowalkiewicz, 31, earned the shot by defeating Rose Namajunas last July.
A men's featherweight title unification bout between Jose Aldo (26-2) and Max Holloway (17-3) currently is slated to headline the UFC 212 pay-per-view.
