UFC 218, taking place Saturday night at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, features one of the more intriguing cards of the year. Headlining the event is a rematch between Max Holloway and Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight belt. The two fought last June, a bout ending in a third round TKO win for Holloway. The Hawaiian was initially scheduled to face Frankie Edgar, but a late injury forced him to be replaced by the longtime Brazilian champion.
Who will be next to face Stipe Miocic? It could be the winner of Alistair Overeem vs. Francis Ngannou, who square off in the co-main event. Ngannou has won nine consecutive fights including three in a row that ended in the first round. Overeem is coming off a majority decision win against Fabricio Werdum in July.
The matchup expected to be pure fireworks is Justin Gaethje vs. Eddie Alvarez, as both are among the most exciting in the UFC. Gaethje most recently defeated Michael Johnson by second-round TKO in what some may consider the 2017 Fight of the Year. Alvarez, the former lightweight champion, saw his last bout end in a "no contest" after he accidentally kicked Dustin Poirier in the head while on the ground.
Other intriguing fights include Henry Cejudo vs. Sergio Pettis and Tecia Torres vs. Michelle Waterson.
Who will come out on top?
