UFC has added a female featherweight bout between Holly Holm and Megan Anderson to UFC 225 on June 9 at United Center in Chicago.
It will mark the first nontitle female featherweight bout in UFC history. The promotion opened the division last year but has promoted only title fights to this point. Cris "Cyborg" Justino is the current champion.
Holm (11-4) is a former bantamweight champion. She challenged Justino for the 145-pound title in December but came up short via unanimous decision. She is just 1-4 in her past five bouts.
Fighting out of Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Holm has a lackluster record of late, but it has come against elite competition, including Miesha Tate, Valentina Shevchenko and Justino.
Anderson (8-2) is a former champion of all-female promotion Invicta FC. The 28-year-old Aussie hasn't fought since January 2017 but is riding a four-fight win streak.
The winner of this summer matchup will be in a good position for a title shot. Justino is coming off a dominant title defense against Yana Kunitskaya in March.
