Former BYU star Jimmer Fredette is on his way to San Antonio.
The Spurs announced Wednesday they have signed the guard, who spent last season with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Selected No. 10 overall by Sacramento in the 2011 draft, Fredette has struggled to carve out a defined role in the NBA, serving short stints with the Pelicans and Chicago Bulls after his two-plus seasons with the Kings.
The Spurs, though, are always on the hunt for extra shooters and are particularly interested in trying to find bargain signings to fill out their roster after using the bulk of their financial flexibility this summer to woo LaMarcus Aldridge away from the Portland Trail Blazers.
As a senior at BYU in 2010-11, he was the NCAA Division I scoring leader with a 28.9 per-game average.
