Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson could miss two weeks with an injured groin, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, damaging the team's chances of securing a playoff spot in the final days of the season.
Richardson, returning from a three-game absence for a sore heel, left Wednesday's 112-102 loss to the Boston Celtics early in the third quarter. An MRI of Richardson's groin on Thursday revealed no structural damage, sources told ESPN.
The Heat (38-40) fell to ninth in the Eastern Conference standings, but are just one game behind sixth-place Detroit (39-39) and a half-game behind Brooklyn and Orlando, who are tied for the final two spots at 39-40.
Richardson is averaging 16.6 points, 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds this season.
