Suns' Devin Booker exits vs. Lakers with right groin injury

LOS ANGELES -- Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker left Monday night's 125-108 win over the Los Angeles Lakers because of a right groin injury.

Booker played the first 10 minutes of the first quarter before being subbed out with Phoenix trailing 27-26. He scored 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting with 3 assists and 2 rebounds.

"I think it was on the finish on [Jaxson] Hayes where he went chest-to-chest and he finished," Suns coach Jordan Ott said when asked how the injury occurred. "He fell and I don't think it was [felt] right away, but he mentioned it might've just been a couple plays after, and you could obviously see him trying to stretch it at that point. We kind of know where these things hit. We'll take a look tomorrow, [and know] more after that."

Booker entered Monday having played in all 21 of Phoenix's games, leading the Suns in points (25.7) and assists (6.9).

The Suns surged ahead without him, outscoring the Lakers 35-21 in the second quarter to take a 66-52 halftime lead.

Phoenix is 13-9 under Ott, the team's first-year coach, and is No. 7 in the Western Conference.
