News: 4 days agoHubbard rushed 10 times for 64 yards and brought in four of five targets for 12 yards in the Panthers' 26-3 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.

Spin: Hubbard's team-leading rushing yardage total was the only statistical performance of note for the hapless Panthers. The fourth-year back had been held to 14 yards on six carries Week 1, so Sunday's numbers represented a breakout performance of sorts. Hubbard figures to keep finding rushing yards hard to come by most weeks if Bryce Young continues to struggle, but he'll try to carry over the momentum of Sunday's impressive showing into a Week 3 road matchup against the Raiders.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Hubbard replaced Miles Sanders as the feature back for the worst offensive team in the league last season, finishing with 902 rush yards and five touchdowns. However, he wasn't exactly efficient in doing so, ranking in the 30s in explosive-run rate, forced missed tackles and yards after contact. Add in the fact that things are still a bit cloudy in Carolina with new head coach Dave Canales, along with the fact they drafted Jonathon Brooks with the 46th pick in the draft, and it's not hard to see Hubbard's fantasy value taking a hit. He is worth a midround pick, as he is expected to be the lead back for at least the first four weeks of the season, while Brooks (ACL recovery) begins the season on IR.
