News: 4 days agoWilliams (ankle) caught five of 11 targets for 79 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Buccaneers.
Spin: Williams picked up where he left off after racking up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown last week, catching a 50-yard pass on Detroit's second drive to set up a field goal. After posting no more than seven targets in any game across his first two seasons, Williams has opened 2024 with nine targets in Week 1 and 11 in Week 2, though he was overshadowed by Amon-Ra St. Brown's 19 targets in the loss to Tampa Bay. Williams will continue stretching the field for Detroit with his elite speed in Week 3 against the Cardinals.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Williams returns as the WR2 behind Amon-Ra St. Brown in a critical third year with the Lions. "Jamo" has played only 18 of a possible 34 games in his young career with the Lions, with only 50 targets in that span. The former 12th overall pick is a dangerous playmaker who finished fourth in fantasy points per reception last season, but he'll need more volume if he's going to be attractive to fantasy managers. Williams carries breakout upside, but also substantial risk if he doesn't see the necessary increase in opportunities. Williams is best viewed as a WR5/6 with big, but risky, upside.
