Washington defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis suffered a torn biceps and will miss the rest of the season, a source confirmed. The Team980 first reported the extent of Ioannidis' injury.
Washington still is awaiting final results on the severity of rookie end Chase Young's groin injury. He left Washington's 34-20 loss to Cleveland in the second quarter because of the injury.
Ioannidis was hurt in the first half Sunday. He has been one of Washington's most effective defensive players since the start of the 2018 season. He recorded a combined 16 sacks the previous two seasons and had 1.5 this year.
Ioannidis had not started this season, playing behind Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne. Washington's line, with its talent and depth, was considered the strength of the roster entering the season. It has lived up to its promise, despite the 1-2 record.
Washington can't afford to lose too many defensive parts with a game Sunday vs. the Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson.
