NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said Sunday night he still hopes to get good news on Jerry Jeudy's injury, but the wide receiver will undergo additional tests Monday morning, as will several of his teammates after a pain-filled day in Denver's 17-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium.
"We're hoping that we dodged a bullet there,'' Hackett said of Jeudy following the game. "We'll evaluate and see how long he'll be.''
Jeudy suffered a left ankle injury on the Broncos' first play from scrimmage as Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson attempted to hit Jeudy on a throw up the left sideline. However, Jeudy fell to the turf just as Wilson let go of the ball, and immediately grabbed the back of his left ankle.
Jeudy, who was the Broncos' first-round pick in 2020, was helped into the injury tent in the Broncos' bench area before he was taken to the locker room on a golf cart. Jeudy left the stadium with a walking boot on his lower left leg and foot and will undergo an MRI on Monday.
Jeudy said he wasn't sure about the extent of the injury as he exited the locker room. He came into the game second on the team with 30 receptions and has the team's longest touchdown play of the season -- 67 yards in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
"First play of the game, Jeudy goes down. ... It's been tough, been tough, been tough,'' Wilson said. "... It's been kind of crazy just to see some of our guys go down as often as we have. We have some world-class players we don't have out there.''
Things got only more difficult for an already struggling offense as the Broncos also had two offensive linemen -- right tackle Billy Turner (knee) and center Graham Glasgow (shoulder) -- leave the game. Glasgow was playing for Lloyd Cushenberry III, who suffered a hip injury in the Broncos' Oct. 30 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London and was placed on injured reserve last week.
Rookie Luke Wattenberg went into game at center and Quinn Bailey, who was elevated from the team's practice squad Saturday for the game and had appeared in just six games over the previous three seasons, played at right tackle.
"We lost Lloyd [against] Jacksonville, we had to get Graham to up to speed with Russ, so Luke did not get as much with Russell,'' Hackett said. "That was a little bit of something they had to work out.''
K'Waun Williams, the Broncos nickel cornerback, also left the game with a right knee injury that will be evaluated as well.
Jeudy's injury comes as another blow to the wide receiver depth chart for the Broncos in a season when they've struggled mightily to score points. They have 12 touchdowns in their nine games combined, including their only touchdown Sunday, scored by rookie wide receiver Jalen Virgil in the second quarter.
The 66-yard, catch-and-run play was Virgil's first career NFL catch.
Wide receiver Tim Patrick suffered a season-ending knee injury in training camp, and KJ Hamler suffered a hamstring injury in practice last Wednesday and was a game-day inactive Sunday.
"We've got the [injury] bug,'' said running back Melvin Gordon III. "... [But] nobody cares, no one cares. ... The Titans don't care we had linemen in and out, they don't care we lost Jeudy the first play of the game, they care about none of that. It just sucks.''
