Eagles downgrade star A.J. Brown (hamstring) to out for MNF

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown has been downgraded to out for Monday night's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Brown popped up on the injury report Friday after his hamstring "got a little tight" in practice, according to coach Nick Sirianni. He was sidelined for Saturday's session and originally carried a questionable designation on the final practice report before being ruled out Sunday.

Brown, 27, has been a central part of the Eagles' offensive attack since being acquired from the Tennessee Titans in 2022. He became the first player in team history to post 1,400-plus receiving yards in back-to-back seasons, setting franchise highs for receiving yards in both campaigns.

His 2024 season got off to a fast start, as he racked up 119 yards and a touchdown on five receptions during a Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo.

With Brown sidelined, Jahan Dotson will likely assume a larger role. Acquired in late August from the Washington Commanders, Dotson is still learning the intricacies of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore's system. He played 32 snaps against Green Bay and had zero receptions on one target.

"He has worked his butt off. He's obviously a very talented player," Sirianni said of Dotson. "We'll see how that goes. But I know that the guys are ready when they need to be, when they're called upon."

Another option, rookie Johnny Wilson, has a hamstring injury and is questionable for the Falcons game.

The primary option for quarterback Jalen Hurts will be wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who had seven catches for 84 yards in the opener.
