Packers listing Jordan Love as questionable to face Vikings

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- For the third straight Friday, the Green Bay Packers listed quarterback Jordan Love as questionable.

Love did not play the previous two weeks.

Whether this week is any different, coach Matt LaFleur would not say.

Early indications this week pointed to Love returning for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings (3-0) at Lambeau Field. However, on Thursday, Love skipped one of the practice drills that required significant mobility, but he returned for the next drill during the open media session.

"I think anytime he's out there, that's encouraging," LaFleur said. "But again, we'll see."

The Packers did not put Love on injured reserve after he sprained the MCL in his left knee in the season opener because they believed the injury would not keep him out for the four weeks he would miss if they put him there. With Malik Willis at quarterback, the Packers (2-1) beat the Colts and Titans in Love's absence.

The Packers have elevated quarterback Sean Clifford from the practice squad for the previous two games to back up Willis. That move must be made by Saturday at 4 p.m. ET for Clifford to suit up again Sunday.

However, that might not be a tell that Love isn't playing because LaFleur indicated that Clifford could still be elevated Saturday even if Love plays against the Vikings.

The Packers have injury concerns on defense, too. Cornerback Jaire Alexander did not practice on Friday after being limited the previous two days because of a quad injury. On Friday, a groin injury was added for Alexander, who was listed as questionable.

The Alexander-Justin Jefferson matchup was one of the most anticipated aspects of Sunday's game. The Vikings star receiver said Thursday that he was excited for the matchup and that he was "going to get my Griddy in his end zone," referring to his touchdown celebration.
