Minnesota Vikings receiver Greg Jennings said he hasn't called Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to apologize for comments that were critical of his former teammate, but he offered one in a public setting on Thursday.
After training camp practice, Jennings told reporters: "I don't really recall saying anything negative about Aaron or anyone over there, but hey, I apologize."
Jennings said he had not spoken to Rodgers directly.
"For what?" he said. "I'm apologizing now."
Jennings, who signed with the Vikings in the offseason after spending his first seven seasons in Green Bay, appeared to criticize Rodgers in a story published in the Minneapolis Star Tribune last month, although he referred to him by his uniform number rather than by name.
"Don't get me wrong, '12' is a great person," Jennings told the newspaper. "But when you hear all positives, all positives, all positives all the time, it's hard for you to sit down when one of your teammates says, 'Man, come on, you've got to hold yourself accountable for this.' It's hard for someone to see that now because all they've heard is I'm doing it the right way. I'm perfect. In actuality, we all have flaws."
