World Archery

The Indian women's compound team of Trisha Deb, Lily Chanu Paonam and Jyothi Surekha Vennam bagged a silver medal at the World Archery Championships in Mexico on Saturday. The team went down 228-234 to fourth-seeded Colombia comprising world record holder Sara Lopez, Alejandra Usquiano and Nora Valdez in the final.

It was the first time India won any medal in the compound team archery section at the World Championships.

This was India's fifth medal overall at the World Championships, all of which have been silver.

While Colombia finished the ends with 58, 59, 59 and 58 to score a total of 234 points, India's scored 55, 58, 60 and 55 to take their tally to 228. Even though India scored a perfect 60 points in the third end, they couldn't recover from the three-point deficit that they had conceded in the first end.

Korea, represented by Song Yun Soo, So Chaewon and Choi Bomin, took bronze after beating Germany 235-227.
