Carolina Chaos upset Boston Cannons in PLL quarterfinals

The Carolina Chaos stunned the Boston Cannons with an 8-4 victory on Monday at Gillette Stadium, advancing to the semifinals of the PLL Playoffs. Josh Byrne and Tye Kurtz led the way for Carolina with two goals and one assist each, while goaltender Blaze Riorden made 15 saves.

The Chaos (4-6) set the tone early in Foxborough, Massachusetts, taking a 2-1 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. Jules Heningburg added a goal and an assist, while Kyle Jackson contributed two goals.

For Boston (7-3), Pat Kavanagh scored his first professional playoff goal, but it was not enough to overcome Carolina's stifling defense. Asher Nolting managed just one goal despite being second in points for the league during the regular season.

Boston goaltender Colin Kirst did his best to keep his team in contention with 12 saves but could not match Riorden's stellar performance between the pipes.

Up next: The Chaos will face the Utah Archers on Saturday in a semifinal matchup to be broadcast on ESPN+. Meanwhile, Monday's loss ends the season for Brian Holman's Cannons.
