Australia's Kane Douglas says he would have been playing for Scotland if the Wallabies had not come calling.
The two sides meet in the World Cup quarterfinals at Twickenham this Sunday, and Douglas could very well have been lining up in dark blue instead of green and gold.
"Yeah, I would have been if I hadn't played for Australia," Douglas, who received his first Australia cap in 2012 against Argentina, was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
The forward, whose grandfather hails from Glasgow's Springfield Road, was born in Maclean, a small community in New South Wales known as 'The Scottish Town' that holds an annual Highland gathering.
His older brother Luke, an NRL prop with the Gold Coast Titans, also represented Scotland in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, with their father coming over to the United Kingdom to watch.
"He's Archibald Douglas my dad is, it's a very Scottish name," Kane told the British newspaper. "Hopefully he comes over in the next couple of weeks. He's building his house at the moment.
"My brother's played a few games for them [Scotland] and he's hoping to play a few more."
The 26-year-old only returned to the Australia set-up in July having been part of Michael Cheika's Super Rugby-winning Waratahs squad in 2014, and is enjoying his time back in the international fold after a difficult spell with Leinster in Ireland.
"They're a good bunch of guys and great staff," Douglas added. "I made a big decision and it's going well for at the minute, so I'm pretty happy."
Douglas, who missed the end of the season with a back injury, left Europe just one year into a three-year contract to return home and sign for the Queensland Reds in July.
"I liked my time there [at Leinster]," he said. "I'm glad I made the decision to go over there and I'm glad I made the decision to come home. I don't regret anything and I think I packed a few more scrums and a few more mauls than I would have in Australia, so I'm hoping it was a good decision."
