Former Cardinal Sharpe scheduled for August trial

PHOENIX -- Former Arizona Cardinals star Luis Sharpe has
been scheduled to go on trial in August on drug charges.

Sharpe, 43, made an initial appearance in court Tuesday. He's
scheduled to go on trial Aug. 26 on charges of possession of
narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

His April arrest violated the terms of his probation for an
earlier conviction. If convicted of the new charges, Sharpe could
face 15 years in prison.

"I think we have a difficult road," Sharpe's attorney Marc
Budoff said. "I'd like to resolve it, as would Luis."

Budoff said Sharpe, who managed to stay off drugs for more than
three years, needs to be back in treatment.
