Monaco see off Caen to keep up pressure on leaders PSG
Monaco returned to winning ways after beating Caen 2-0 at Stade Louis II.
Leonardo Jardim's side had gone four matches without a victory after losing 2-1 at home to Besiktas on Tuesday night as their Champions League campaign continued to falter.
Monaco, though, produced the required response on Saturday afternoon to see off Caen with a first-half goal from Balde Keita and Radamel Falcao's penalty on the hour.
The victory put Monaco back to within three points of Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who travel to Marseille on Sunday when Unai Emery's men will be out to maintain their unbeaten start to the new season.
Senegal forward Keita opened the scoring after 21 minutes when he latched onto a throughball from Thomas Lemar before placing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Monaco made sure of the points when Falcao converted from the spot on the hour for his 14th goal of the season.
Midfielder Rony Lopes was fouled in the box by Jan Repas, and Colombia forward Falcao made no mistake from the resulting penalty, as he clipped a low shot into the bottom left corner.
Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic helped secure a clean sheet when, with 12 minutes left, he pushed an effort from Caen substitute Christian Kouakou onto the bar.
