Christian Eriksen scores first Inter goal in Europa League win
Christian Eriksen scored his first goal for Inter in the club's 2-0 win over Ludogorets Razgrad in Europa League round-of-32 action on Thursday.
Inter were frustrated by more than an hour by their Bulgarian opponents until Eriksen, who joined during the winter transfer window from Tottenham, fired a low shot into the net from just outside the penalty area in the 71st minute.
It was Eriksen's first goal after six appearances in Nerazzuri colours. The Denmark international nearly added another when he rattled the crossbar just two minutes later.
Romelu Lukaku sealed the win with a stoppage-time penalty, the Belgian striker's 22nd goal of the season, after Anicet Andrianantenaina was judged to have handled following a VAR review.
"I'm happy for [Eriksen], goals always bring confidence," Inter coach Antonio Conte said afterward. "Christian just needs to keep working to get back to full fitness, to rediscover the brilliance of his best days at Tottenham. He can do even more than what he showed us tonight, but we're very happy because we know what he can bring us. In any case, I'm focused on what's best for Inter, so I'll look to put him in in the right way and at the right time."
The return leg will be at San Siro on Feb. 27.
