Haley Hopkins nutmegs defender and finishes a nice goal

Haley Hopkins gets past her defender with a nice move and doubles North Carolina Courage's lead.

The North Carolina Courage started the season with a 5-1 win at home over the Houston Dash.

Malia Berkely got things started for the Courage with a well-placed penalty shot to the bottom right corner to score 19 minutes in.

North Carolina had just a 1-0 lead at the half but poured it on in the second half. Haley Hopkins found the back of the net for the Courage early in the half. An own goal by Kaleigh Kurtz momentarily gave Houston hope, but the Courage were too strong, getting two goals from Bianca St-Georges to pull away and one more from Dani Weatherholt right before the gun.

With the win, the Courage move to 1-0-0 while the Dash fall to 0-1-0.
