Sophia Smith pounces on a Houston error to finish calmly and make it 2-0 Portland Thorns.

Portland Thorns FC secured a 4-1 victory over the Houston Dash on Saturday at Providence Park. Christine Sinclair led the charge for the Thorns, scoring an early goal.

Sinclair opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a right-footed shot from close range.

Sophia Smith added to Portland's tally with a strike from inside the box in the 27th minute, making it 2-0 before halftime. Smith also provided an assist later in the game and was involved in several key plays that kept Houston's defense under constant pressure.

Other notable contributions came from Olivia Moultrie and Janine Beckie, who each scored late goals to seal Portland's win. Moultrie's goal came off an assist from Smith, while Beckie's effort was set up by Meghan Klingenberg.

Houston managed one response when Diana Ordóñez found space and converted Amanda West's headed pass into the top-left corner past Thorns goalkeeper Shelby Hogan moments after halftime.
