Racing Louisville FC secure 3-1 victory over Chicago Red Stars

Racing Louisville FC defeated the Chicago Red Stars 3-1 at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville on Saturday.

Uchenna Kanu opened the scoring for Racing Louisville in the 12th minute with a right-footed shot from close range, assisted by Bethany Balcer.

Injuries led to early substitutions in the second half, with Emma Sears replacing Kanu and Kayla Fischer coming on for Balcer. Jameese Joseph equalized for Chicago in the 59th minute with a right-footed shot from a difficult angle, assisted by Penelope Hocking.

However, Racing Louisville quickly regained the lead just two minutes later when Marisa DiGrande scored from inside the box after an assist from Fischer. Leilanni Nesbeth received a yellow card for a foul shortly afterward.

Fischer extended Racing's lead to 3-1 in the 77th minute with a left-footed shot following a through ball from Taylor Flint. Despite several attempts by Chicago to get back into the game, including shots by Sarah Griffith and Jenna Bike that missed narrowly or were blocked, it failed to score again.

With this win, Racing Louisville improve to 4-7-6, while the Chicago Red Stars fall to 7-2-8.
