The Washington Spirit earned a 2-1 victory over Angel City FC at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday night.

Ashley Hatch and Makenna Morris scored for the visitors, while Messiah Bright netted the lone goal for the home side.

Washington took an early lead when Hatch found the back of the net in the 39th minute with a left-footed shot from the center of the box to make it 1-0.

Angel City (6-4-12) responded after halftime as Bright equalized in the 51st minute with a right-footed shot on an assist by Alyssa Thompson. However, Washington (15-2-5) regained the advantage when Morris scored the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute off an assist from Rosemonde Kouassi.

Up next: Angel City will face Seattle Reign FC on Oct. 5 at Lumen Field (Prime Video). The Spirit will take on the Orlando Pride on Oct. 6 at Inter&Co Stadium (ESPN2/ESPN Deportes/ESPN+).
