Man Utd v Spurs
Man United produce stunning comeback to draw with Tottenham
Manchester United produced a stunning late fightback from 3-0 down to snatch a dramatic 3-3 draw against Tottenham in the Women's Super League on Sunday.
Goals from Beth England, Eveliina Summanen and Martha Thomas put Spurs in firm command, and on course for a first-ever victory over United, at Leigh's Progress With Unity Stadium.
But United replied through Ella Toone after 74 minutes and substitute Fridolina Rolfö struck twice, including a stoppage-time equaliser, as United grabbed a point.
United will feel a draw was the least they deserved after controlling most of the game and hitting the crossbar four times.
The hosts started well with Melvine Malard having an early shot blocked by Spurs keeper Lize Kop and Jess Park being denied by a goalline header from Toko Koga.
Hinata Miyazawa then volleyed wide before going even closer with an effort that struck the bar.
United paid the price for their profligacy when Spurs worked the ball neatly and Olivia Holdt crossed for England to head home.
The hosts responded well but Malard and Maya Le Tissier crashed efforts against the bar.
United were again punished when Ashleigh Neville found space on the right and crossed for Summanen to loop a header back over Phallon Tulis-Joyce.
Elisabeth Terland should have pulled one back after the break but headed wide and Spurs made it 3-0 as Thomas thumped in a shot after being played in by Neville.
United finally registered as Toone hooked in a volley following a poor clearance but the same player became the next to hit the bar with a thunderous strike.
United upped the pressure and Rolfo tucked in amid a goalmouth scramble before Malard was denied an equaliser by Molly Bartrip on the line.
The leveller finally came in the fourth minute of stoppage time as Rolfo volleyed in from Leah Galton's cross.
