Roberto Soldado remains confident he can still prove a success at Tottenham Hotspur but admits his first-team prospects are limited while Harry Kane remains in such fine form.
Soldado, 29, joined Tottenham from Valencia for 26 million pounds in 2013, but he has struggled to replicate the goal-scoring form he showed in La Liga.
While Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor have had a limited impact this season, 21-year-old Kane has been in exceptional form, with 23 goals in 36 games in all competitions, and the Spaniard told the EFE news agency that he accepted his place in the pecking order.
"You always try to work hard so that things go your way, but when you have a teammate like Harry Kane, all you can do is wait for your chance and try to make the most of it," Soldado said.
"I'm under contract here and my intention is to turn my situation around. I know I've got plenty more to offer. The fans love me and show me affection and I want to repay that affection with goals."
Soldado scored a fine volley in Tottenham's 1-1 Europa League draw with Fiorentina on Thursday, but he has contributed just one goal in 16 league games this season.
"I'm fully settled in, but I need to score goals," he said. "I feel good when I play -- I wish I could put my finger on what's gone wrong. Forwards live off confidence and taking their chances, and perhaps I haven't been as deadly as I would have expected in a number of matches.
"I have to relax a bit so that things go for me. We've got a fantastic three or four months [of the season] still to go."
