Four-time Ligue 1 winner Jeremy Berthod has announced his retirement from football at the age of 30.
The former Lyon and Monaco left-back won the French championship four times with Les Gones between 2004 and 2007, and he recently completed a second season with Norwegian club Sarpsborg.
But with his 31st birthday a week away, he has called time on his playing career.
Writing on his official Facebook page, he said: "Today my body and my mind no longer possess the required motivation to allow me to keep practising my passion on a daily basis.
"Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of my career as a professional footballer."
