Robin van Persie back in Netherlands squad, Arjen Robben ruled out

Robin van Persie will return to Netherlands' squad but Arjen Robben remains out for a friendly against the United States and a crucial Euro 2016 qualifier in Latvia.

Coach Guus Hiddink recalled the Manchester United striker after an ankle injury kept him out of their previous game in March. Van Persie will join his club teammate Daley Blind and United's new acquisition Memphis Depay on the squad.

Robben previously missed time with the national team because of an abdominal tear, and the Bayern winger will now sit out with a calf injury.

Netherlands are third in Group A on just seven points from five matches and trail leaders Czech Republic by six points and Iceland by five.

Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven have eight players on Hiddink's 30-man squad, while AZ Alkmaar's Steven Berghuis and Groningen's Tjaronn Chery received their first call-ups.

The team camp will open on May 25, with players trickling in from their clubs ahead of the friendly with the U.S. in Amsterdamn on June 5 before the qualifier in Riga on June 12.
