Liverpool are looking into the possibility of ending Javier Manquillo's two-year loan deal 12 months early.
The club will consider trying to reach an agreement with Atletico Madrid to terminate the Spain Under-21 international's deal, sources have told ESPN FC.
Manquillo, 21, played 16 times for the Reds during the first half of last season following his arrival.
But he has made just three club appearances in 2015 -- none of them in the Premier League.
His first-team opportunities are likely to continue to be restricted following the arrival of fellow right-back Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton.
Liverpool will need to negotiate with Atletico in order to end Manquillo's loan, however.
The Reds have already released one right-back this summer, with Glen Johnson leaving Anfield following the expiry of his contract.
However, Andre Wisdom has returned to the club after a season on loan at West Brom, signing a four-year contract in May.
Jon Flanagan remains out of action following knee surgery, and may not play again until 2016, but will be another contender for the position once he is fit.
