Leighton Baines is expected to recover from ankle surgery in time for the start of Premier League season, Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed.
Baines, 30, had an operation in May to correct a problem that had been troubling him since 2012.
The left-back has been forced to miss Everton's preseason trip to Singapore for the Asia Trophy, in which they will face Stoke City on Wednesday.

Martinez, though, is confident that the England international will be available for his side's opening league game against Watford at Goodison Park on Aug. 8.
He is also confident that Bryan Oviedo, who can play as a left-sided defender or in midfield, will recover from a fractured foot for the start of the new campaign.
The manager told Sky Sports News: "Leighton is well ahead of where we expected him to be. I expect him to be able to start the campaign fully fit.
"I think the first week in August is a realistic target for Leighton and I would say the same for Bryan Oviedo.
"Both have been progressing really well and I do expect Leighton to be fully fit for the start of the campaign."
Martinez, meanwhile, has indicated that left-back Luke Garbutt will go out on loan to gain experience this season.
Garbutt, 22, signed a five-year contract on June 30, having made eight starts for Everton last season.
Martinez added: "As a club, we're looking forward to seeing his best years, once he's had that year away.
"At the moment, we're very strong in that position -- but that doesn't stop us wanting to keep a very good left-back with an incredible future."
