Netherlands' Tim Krul grateful for support after sustaining injury

Netherlands goalkeeper Tim Krul has thanked well-wishers for their support after suffering a knee injury during the 2-1 Euro 2016 qualifying victory over Kazakhstan.

Krul, 27, was forced from the field after he fell awkwardly in the latter stages of Saturday's clash at the Astana Arena.

Netherlands head coach Danny Blind reportedly described the injury as "bad" after the match, which was played on artificial turf.

The extent of the Newcastle keeper's injury will not be known until after he undergoes scans, however, and he took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support.

Krul's injury is a setback for Newcastle boss Steve McClaren, particularly as second-choice keeper Karl Darlow is currently sidelined with a foot problem.

The Magpies are currently bottom of the Premier League, having failed to win any of their first eight games of the season.
