Steven Fletcher says he hopes there is much more to come from him after he scored and set up a goal on his first start for Marseille.
Fletcher, 28, created Romain Alessandrini's opener in Marseille's Coupe de France last-16 tie at lower league Trelissac on Thursday, before adding the second himself late on in a hard-fought 2-0 win.
Earlier this month the Scottish international joined Marseille on loan from Sunderland for the rest of the season and he made his debut as a substitute in their 2-1 league defeat at home to Paris Saint-Germain last weekend.
Fletcher made a strong first impression leading the line on Thursday as Marseille overcame some shaky periods to set up a meeting with amateur side Granville in the cup quarter-finals. A headline in L'Equipe noted that "Fletcher has flair" after his clever flick created Marseille's first goal and he said after the game that he knew he had a lot to prove.
"It's a good start for me," Fletcher told reporters. "A lot of people were asking why I came here. I wanted to play and show what I can do.
"I'm happy to play 90 minutes. I needed it, especially for my fitness, and I'm glad obviously to get on the score sheet as well and create an assist. So, very happy."

Having admitted this week that he would like to convince Marseille to offer him a long-term deal, Fletcher agreed that it was something of a dream start. The former Burnley, Hibernian and Wolves forward settled Marseille nerves by sliding home to score on 87 minutes and he promised that he has more to offer.
"It was hard today with the pitch and they were a good side," Fletcher said. "So hopefully I can show a bit more and keep getting on the score sheet."
Marseille manager Michel, who chose to pick Fletcher as his lone frontman instead of top scorer Michy Batshuayi, said he was happy with the Scot's performance.
"Fletcher did well -- he's a very good alternative for Michy Batshuayi," Michel said after the game. "He scored his first goal. He was able to get into the box on several occasions. For us, it was sufficient."
Former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby failed to get off the bench after making a matchday squad for the first time since joining Marseille in the summer.
Michel decided not to risk the ex-France international on a pitch that was in terrible condition, meaning that Diaby is still waiting to make his first competitive appearance since September 2014.
