Giuseppe Rossi could return to play for Fiorentina next season after his loan at Levante ends, his agent has said.
Rossi failed to score for the Viola in the first half of the season before joining the Spanish club on loan and netting three goals in nine appearances.
It had been reported that part of the agreement could see him return to his former club Villarreal next season, but agent Andrea Pastorello said there was a good chance he would play for Fiorentina again.
"It depends on Fiorentina," Pastorello told Radio Blu. "If Levante don't take the option they have on him, he will go back there automatically.
"Or maybe the Viola will decide they want him back, even if Levante do take their option.
"I know that Fiorentina are following him, even in person, so it certainly cannot be excluded him going back there."
He added that Italy forward Rossi was "very happy because he's playing regularly," adding: "This is what he wanted more than anything, and in addition he scored the winning goal in the derby with Valencia. He has no regrets."
Whether Rossi has done enough to play his way back into contention for a place in Italy's Euro 2016 squad will become clear only towards the end of the season, but Pastorello says he was "not thinking about that."
He added: "Of course if it [the call] were to arrive, it would be welcome."
