Goalkeeper: Burnley might have lost 2-1 to Arsenal, but they almost came away from Emirates Stadium with an unlikely point, and goalkeeper Tom Heaton would have been due much of the credit for that after the latest in a long line of heroic performances this season. Gabriele Marcotti selects him for Team of the Week and rightly points out that "Heaton made some big stops again today."
Right-back: There is agreement from Steve Nicol and Marcotti about Everton's Seamus Coleman being selected at right-back after a dramatic victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, a game in which Coleman grabbed the 87th-minute winner. "One of the best attacking fullbacks around rewarded with a goal," is what Marcotti had to say, while Nicol summed it up slightly more succinctly, adding: "Match-winner."
Centre-back: Gary Cahill's leadership in Chelsea's 2-0 win against Hull City also has Nicol and Marcotti both onside. John Terry was left out of Antonio Conte's squad completely, but with Cahill on this kind of form, the Blues are in safe hands at the back. Marcotti described the goal-scoring centre-half as "a difference-maker from a set-piece and not for the first time this season."
Centre-back: Arsenal were struggling to find a breakthrough against Burnley before Shkodran Mustafi headed them in front shortly before the hour mark. The Germany international looks like a rock at the back, and Nicol summed up his threat going forward smartly when he calls him "Arsenal's best attacker."
Left-back: The Team of the Weekend panel were impressed by Chris Brunt's efforts as West Bromwich Albion continued their fine season with a dominant 2-0 win against Sunderland. Brunt not only contributed to the clean sheet but earned the nickname "Cannonball Kid" from Nicol for his thunderous volley for the Baggies' second goal. "He's the perpetual quality option out wide for Tony Pulis' side," Marcotti added.
Midfield: Tom Davies burst into the public consciousness during Everton's emphatic 4-0 win over Manchester City, but proved he is no flash in the pan. The 18-year-old showed his maturity in a completely different kind of game altogether, providing a match-winning assist for the Toffees as they overcame Crystal Palace. "He does it again," Marcotti enthused. "The teenage sensation knows no bounds and plays with no fear."
Midfield: Jack Wilshere has been quietly impressive for Bournemouth this season but took his game to another level against Watford, running the midfield as the Cherries twice came from behind to draw 2-2. Marcotti described the on-loan Arsenal midfielder's display as "another example of his quality and personality in midfield."
Midfield: Swansea started the weekend bottom of the Premier League table but finished it out of the relegation zone. Their 3-2 win against Liverpool at Anfield was nothing short of sensational, and Gylfi Sigurdsson, as usual, had a big part to play. "It was no surprise he got the winner," Nicol said.
Forward: Antonio Conte won't regret his decision to recall Diego Costa to Chelsea's team for the game against Hull and go further clear at the top of the Premier League. Costa didn't miss a beat and was back to his fiery best, scoring a goal, having another disallowed and not giving Harry Maguire a rest all afternoon. That was enough for Marcotti to give him the nod.
Forward: West Ham United fans could be forgiven for asking Dimitri who? Andy Carroll came to the fore again for the Hammers as they faced up to life without their star man by claiming another win. Last week, Carroll grabbed headlines thanks to an acrobatic thunderbolt of a goal. This week he scored twice in an important 3-1 victory on the road against Middlesbrough. "He receives no points for style, but he is effective," said Nicol, while Marcotti added: "Two more goals for the big man, but can he stay fit?"
Forward: Fernando Llorente's two-goal heroics for Swansea at Anfield earned him two thumbs up all round from the panel. The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from the club, but they will need him to retain this kind of unplayable form if they want to stay in the division. "Remember all those guys who turned up their nose at him?" asked Marcotti. "Funny, because he's scored more goals from open play this season than Jermain Defoe, Christian Benteke, Olivier Giroud, Salomon Rondon, Alvaro Negredo and Troy Deeney!"
Manager: Paul Clement grabbed his first Premier League victory as Swansea boss and made a big impression on the panel in the process. Marcotti has belief that the former Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich coach can turn things around. "They were a little lucky against Liverpool," our man said. "But they're out of the bottom three, and he has barely put his shoulder to the wheel."
