Monaco sign Poland's Kamil Glik from Torino on four-year deal

Monaco announced the signing of Poland defender Kamil Glik from Torino on Monday.

The centre-back agreed a four-year deal tying him to the Ligue 1 club until 2020.

Glik joined Torino in 2011 when the Italian club were still in the second-division Serie B, and helped them earn promotion to the top flight in his second season.

The 28-year-old had a fine performance at Euro 2016, leading a Poland defence that conceded only two goals in five games.

"I am very proud and happy to get involved with AS Monaco, a great French club that will allow me to take a new step in my career," Glik said.

"I will do everything to help the team and the club to achieve their objectives. This is a very exciting new challenge, and I'm eager to start writing this new page."

Monaco director Vadim Vasilyev said Glik had the experience the club was searching for.

"We are very pleased to welcome Kamil Glik. His power, his charisma and his defensive abilities that he demonstrated during the Euros will be a great addition for our team," Vasilyev said.
