Socceroos defender Jason Davidson has signed for Dutch side FC Groningen on a season-long loan deal from Huddersfield Town.
Davidson was overlooked by Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou for next month's World Cup qualifiers against Iraq and and the UAE and hasn't been featured in any of Hudderfield's first four matches of the season.
The 25-year-old has been on the outer with Terriers boss David Wagner after falling out with the former Borusssia Dortmund assistant coach last season and the Dutch side have an option to make the deal permanent.
Davidson made his name in the Eredivisie with Heracles Almelo who sold him to West Bromwich Albion in 2014 and he's delighted to be back in the Netherlands and desperate to regain his international spot.
"The competition is highly regarded and when FC Groningen expressed interest, I felt it was important for me to go to a club who really wanted me," Davidson said.
"There is the Confederations Cup in Russia for Australia next year and I'd love to play.
"I am privileged to have been able to play the World Cup in 2014, where I fought personal battles with Arjen Robben and also an Asian Cup.
"Big tournament experience is wonderful but I need to be playing regularly.
"I can achieve that here in Groningen if I have a very good season and work hard.
"I am very passionate and hungry to succeed." Wagner said the move was a good one for both parties.
"Jason is a senior player and is obviously keen to play regular football and that is not something we can offer here at the moment," he told the Huddersfield official website.
"Jason has a profile in the Netherlands from his time playing in the country and we all wish him the best of luck."
