Andre Schurrle said he felt "great" after scoring his first Borussia Dortmund goal on his first start in the 3-0 DFB-Pokal win at Eintracht Trier.
Schurrle, 25, joined BVB from Wolfsburg earlier this summer and struck when he beat Eintracht Trier keeper Chris Keilmann with an effort on the stroke of half-time.
Shinji Kagawa scored twice as Dortmund wrapped up the win and Schurrle, substituted after 55 minutes following a collision with Keilmann, told reporters: "It was a nice competitive debut with the goal, and our victory was the most important thing.
"I would have loved to have played the full 90 minutes, but I felt a bit dizzy. It was better to leave the pitch. It's nothing serious, but my jaw and my chin hurt a bit."
The Germany international said he was pleased to be at Dortmund and added: "I feel great here. I've only been here for three weeks, but I was welcomed with open arms. It's fun, and I want to step on the gas now."
Coach Thomas Tuchel, with whom Schurrle worked at Mainz, said the former Chelsea player was "beaming and smiling every single day, and he works very hard."
"There are not many offensive players who are also defined by their defensive play and have a very small ego. That's why we absolutely wanted to sign him," he added.
Meanwhile, Dortmund attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang told Sport Bild he hoped to finally win silverware this season.
"It will be incredibly difficult," the 27-year-old said. "But we want to win something. We first have to reach our goals and qualify for the next Champions League, reach the knockout stages this year, and the cup final.
"But a trophy wouldn't be bad. I wouldn't care which one it was."
