Barcelona have confirmed to ESPN FC that defender Marlon Santos forgot his passport and was unable to travel with the team for Tuesday's Champions League game at Manchester City.
The club said Brazilian centre-back Marlon had returned home and would catch a regular flight from El Prat airport to Manchester later on Monday.
Luis Enrique and the rest of the Blaugrana players continued with their journey to England where they will train at City's training base before the game.
Marlon is one of three Barca B players included in a 20-man squad due to injuries to fellow defenders Gerard Pique, Jeremy Mathieu and Jordi Alba.
Nili and Carles Alena are the other two youngsters called up for the game. All three were unused substitutes in the win over Granada on Saturday.
Marlon, 21, is on a season-long loan from Fluminense and impressed when forming part of the first team in preseason.
He played well in last week's Catalan Super Cup loss to Espanyol and the Granada game was his first with the first team in La Liga.
The trip to City, therefore, was his first away game as part of Luis Enrique's squad for a competitive match.
