Seattle Sounders defender Roman Torres will sit out his team's next game after Major League Soccer's disciplinary committee sanctioned the center-back with violent conduct in Saturday's 2-2 draw with the Montreal Impact.
Torres, 30, was adjudged to have kicked out at the Impact's Ambroise Oyongo after the two collided at the top of the Sounders' penalty area in the 37th minute.
Seattle next plays the New York Red Bulls at home on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Portland Timbers match-winner Diego Chara was fined by the disciplinary committee for simulation in a 1-0 win against the LA Galaxy in Carson, California.
The incident occurred in the 31st minute and the fine amount was undisclosed by the league.
Chara's teammate David Guzman was not fined for the same offense after going down from a Jelle Van Damme challenge in the 34th minute that earned the Galaxy defender a second yellow card and forced the home team to play with 10 men for the rest of the match.
The committee could not determine from replays whether or not Guzman went to ground intentionally as Van Damme dove in for the ball.
