Former Melbourne Victory defender Nick Ansell has signed with Portuguese top-flight club CD Tondela.
The Australian departed the A-League grand finalists at the season's end to seek opportunities overseas after seven years at the club.
He played 19 games last season but was on the bench in the Grand Final loss to Sydney FC, behind preferred central defenders Alan Baro and James Donachie.

CD Tondela struggled in the Primeira Liga last season, avoiding relegation by goal difference.
The 23-year-old Ansell joins fellow former A-League defender Ryan McGowan in the Primeira Liga, who plays with Pacos Ferreira.
