Adelaide United signs Denmark international Johan Absalonsen

Danish international Johan Absalonsen has joined A-League club Adelaide United.

Absalonsen, a 31-year-old who has spent 14 seasons in Denmark's top-flight, has inked a one-year deal to join the Reds.

The winger, who has been capped three times for Denmark, follows Turkish international Ersan Gulum in signing with Adelaide for the looming A-League season.

New Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz hopes the duo will be joined by other experienced players.

"I still want two or three more experienced players for the squad," Kurz said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Between Johan and Ersan we have signed two very good players but ... we're working hard to add more players to the team and I'm confident there will be more signings in the near future."

Absalonsen said he was excited about joining the Reds.

"I played in Denmark for 14 years in the best Danish league," he said in a statement.

"And now I would like a new challenge ... the opportunity came and I couldn't be happier.

"I definitely hope I can make an impact on this team, that I can make a difference. That's my primary goal for coming here."

A left winger renowned for his speed, Absalonsen made more than 350 first-team appearances in the Danish Superliga, most recently with SonderjyskE.
