Plateau United's hopes of a League and Cup 'double' went up in smoke on Sunday following a 4-2 aggregate defeat to Niger Tornadoes.
The League champions needed a strong performance after losing the first leg 2-0, but were already trailing by that scoreline at halftime. Ibrahim Babawo gave Tornadoes an 18th-minute lead, before winning the penalty which Isah Hussaini converted in the 41st minute.
Plateau pulled two goals back in the second half from the spot, but that wasn't enough to stop Tornadoes from setting up a semifinal encounter against FC Ifeanyi Ubah; the first time they have reached the competition's last four since 2000.
Elsewhere, Akwa United taught amateur team Katsina United Feeders a football lesson they won't forget in a long time, netting seven goals without reply. Christian Pyagbara netted four goals, two strikes in either half, with Musa Newman, Kodjovi Dadzie and Michael Ibeh also getting on the scoresheet.
The second leg will be played in Katsina on Wednesday.
