Jadon Sancho and Maximilian Philipp could return to the Borussia Dortmund squad for Saturday's trip to RB Leipzig.
Attacking players Philipp and England youth international Jadon Sancho are both back from injury layoffs and set to return to the squad soon.
"We still have two training sessions [before the Leipzig game], and we'll see whether it makes sense [to call them up] or if we'd better wait for a few more days," coach Peter Stoger said.
Stoger was frustrated as his side dropped two points in their previous Bundesliga game, a 1-1 home draw with Augsburg on Monday.
Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga, with sixth-placed Leipzig just three points behind them.
"When we got here we were eighth, and we are currently second but still not entirely happy because we missed those two points from Monday," he said.
"They would have given us some breathing space [in second place] -- we don't have that yet.
"We must face our competitors now, they are chasing us. But we can live with that."
BVB's players were criticised in the media after a listless performance, and sporting director Michael Zorc accused them of playing like "civil servants."
"The players have also seen that this was not ideal, but it's nothing you can change at the flick of a switch," Stoger said. "It takes talks and training."
