May Mahlangu joins Ludogorets from Dinamo Bucharest

Ludogorets Razgrad have completed the signing of South Africa international May Mahlangu from Dinamo Bucharest, the Romanian heavyweights have confirmed.

In a statement on their official club website, Dinamo announced that the 29-year-old had ended his two-year stay in Bucharest to join the Bulgarian giants.

"FC Dinamo Bucharest and PFC Ludogorets Razgrad have today reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of May Mahlangu to the Bulgarian champions," the statement began.

"Having moved to the Stefan cel Mare-based club two years ago, Mahlangu amassed 72 appearances and scored three goals for Dinamo in all competitions.

"FC Dinamo Bucharest thank May Mahlangu," concluded the statement, "and wish him a lot of success with his new team."

The midfielder had become an influential presence at Dinamo since moving to Romania from St Truiden of Belgium in 2016.

He's previously featured for Swedish giants IFK Gotenborg and Helsingborgs IF, with whom he won the Allsvenskan, as well as Konyaspor of Turkey.

Having made his Bafana debut in January 2012, Mahlangu has only accumulated 16 caps for South Africa and has endured a troubled relationship with the national side.

He failed to report to training ahead of 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan and Nigeria in 2014, and was subsequently banned from further selection.

Mahlangu made his debut for Bafana in 2012, and was part of the South Africa side that featured at the 2013 AFCON on home soil.
