Monaco have acquired full-back Benjamin Henrichs from Bayer Leverkusen, the club announced on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old Germany international will join the 2016-17 Ligue 1 champions on a five-year deal.

"I am very proud to be involved with AS Monaco, a top European club for many years, and I will do everything I can to adapt quickly and help the team achieve many victories, with the staff and my new teammates," Henrichs told Monaco's website.

The Leverkusen academy product had been a regular in the team's lineup since the 2016-17 season when he made 29 appearances.

Internationally, Henrichs has made three appearances for his country and was part of Joachim Low's Confederations Cup-winning squad last summer.

"Benjamin Henrichs is a talented defender with solid national experience and a very high international level, and his arrival reinforces the quality of our team and I am sure he will contribute to the team's good results," Monaco chief executive Vadim Vasilyev added.
