Tottenham have no plans to sign Colombia international Wilmar Barrios, sources have told ESPN FC.
It has been reported that Spurs have agreed personal terms with the midfielder's representatives and are preparing a bid to sign the 25-year-old -- who played against England at the World Cup -- from Argentine club Boca Juniors.
But sources have told ESPN FC that there have been no contract talks, that Barrios was not a target for Spurs in the summer and that he is not on their wish-list now.
Mauricio Pochettino has, however, declared that he would like new signings in the January transfer window.
"In football you always need to think you can improve, and you need to try to improve your squad," he said after Saturday's victory over West Ham.
"We couldn't sign [in the summer] for different circumstances, but we wanted to sign.
"Now January will come and we're going to try to sign. I think it's not only us -- all the clubs and managers want to sign players, must refresh the squad.
"We need to try again in January or the summer if we want to move on the team and the club."
