'I certainly have options' - Miedema amid Man City links

Vivianne Miedema has said she has "options" after leaving Arsenal despite being closely linked with a move to fellow Women's Super League (WSL) club Manchester City.

Sources told ESPN in May that Manchester City is the Dutch forward's most likely destination, but the forward said to ESPN Netherlands: "I certainly have options. I'm in a good position.

"I can't complain in terms of interest."

The 27-year-old joined Arsenal in 2017 and announced her departure from the north London club in May after seven years due to her contract expiring.

At Arsenal, Miedema became the all-time top goal-scorer in the WSL, winning the golden boot in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 season.

The forward added that she wants to play in the highest tier of European club football at her next club.

"I really want to play in the Champions League. I am 27 now, I should be entering my best years now," Miedema said.

"The focus is on getting fit and playing 90 minutes as soon as possible. I will do that at a club that plays in the Champions League. Hopefully I can make the choice definitively in the coming days."

Miedema has missed much of the last two campaigns with an ACL injury that she suffered in December 2022.
