Emma Raducanu gained herself a place in the quarterfinals in Eastbourne, beating the world No. 5 Jessica Pegula 4-6, 7-6, 7-5.
Despite a slow start losing in the first set, Raducanu marked her first win against a top-10 world ranked player taking the last two sets to seal the game.
The 21-year-old British player won when Pegula's forehand from the back of the court went wide. A relieved Raducanu dropped her racket and placed her head in her hands before waving to the home crowd.
"I'm pretty drained right now," she said. "I would say this match is one of the more meaningful ones to me."
Raducanu will be a wild-card entry for Wimbledon next week, after missing last year's tournament because of hand and ankle injuries.
She next faces sixth-seeded Daria Kasatkina in the quarterfinals.
British No. 1 Katie Boulter has secured her place in the quarterfinals at Eastbourne, winning 6-4, 7-5 against Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko.
Boulter took two consecutive sets to win despite going game-for-game in the second set, she ultimately took the match point after 70 minutes against the former champion.
She will face the tournament third seed Jasmine Paolini on Tursday.
Meanwhile, British No. 2 Harriet Dart was set to play the tournament's top seed Elena Rybakina, but the match was cancelled as Rybakina withdrew from the event. Dart played American Sofia Kenin and won after a stellar final set, not dropping a single game. The final score was 6-3, 6-7, 6-0.
She will take on Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals on Thursday who is ranked 30 in world. Fernandez reached the U.S Open final in 2021 but lost to Raducanu.
This marks the first time that three British women have made the quarterfinals in Eastbourne since 1978.
Billy Harris beat British teammate Charles Broom to secure his spot in the men's singles quarterfinal match.
Elsewhere in Britain, Jay Clarke and George Loffhagen both missed out on Wimbledon qualifications for the men's singles tournament whilst Amarni Banks and Sonay Kartal have successfully gained themselves a spot in the next round of qualifying for the women's singles main draw.
