The Las Vegas Aces, looking for more help inside for star center A'ja Wilson, signed 6-foot-5 rookie center Jessika Carter on Sunday.

A three-time All-SEC selection, Carter averaged 14.9 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks for Mississippi State last season. She was a second-round draft pick (No. 23) by the New York Liberty but was waived before the season started.

The two-time defending WNBA champion Aces are 6-6 and already have as many losses as they had in the full 2023 regular season.

Wilson is leading the WNBA in scoring (28.0 points per game) and rebounding (11.5 RPG). The Aces lead the league in team scoring (86.8 PPG) but are ninth in points allowed at 85.7. Last season, the Aces led in scoring and were second in points allowed.

This season, center Kiah Stokes has started all 12 games alongside Wilson. Known for her defense, Stokes is averaging 1.8 points, while reserve center Megan Gustafson is at 3.0.

To make room for Carter, the Aces waived forward Emma Cannon.
