EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon's Ruthy Hebard set the NCAA record for consecutive field goals made for men and women Monday night.
She came into the No. 8 Ducks' game against UCLA with 30 straight makes, tying the men's record of 30 set by Yale's Brandon Sherrod in 2016 and two better than the women's record of 28. The women's mark had stood since Southern Utah's Myndee Larsen set it in 1998.
Hebard's record run ended in the second quarter of Monday's 101-94, overtime win.
Her streak spanned 11 quarters and two overtime periods for Oregon. When it ended, the crowd gave her a nice ovation. She made her next attempt.
Hebard, a 6-foot-4 sophomore from Alaska, began her streak in a Feb. 9 win over Washington when she made her final six shots. Her hot shooting continued as she went 12-for-12 from the floor against Washington State on Feb. 11 and then went 12-for-12 again in a double-overtime victory over USC on Friday, the game in which she surpassed Larsen.
On Monday night, Hebard finished 7-for-11 for 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the Ducks' victory.
